A long time sheep farmer, Ben Calkins started
Great American Lamb Company several
decades ago with the intent to both provide
premium, all-natural, family farm
produced lamb for consumers who wanted
lamb that was healthy and delicious and
consistent in superior quality.
To develop consistent superior quality,
we started supplying lamb to neighbors
and other close acquaintances that knew
about our farm and our all-natural, family
farm produced lamb. Everyone that tasted
our lamb was hooked on the tender,
flavorful and mouth watering taste of
the lamb, not to mention the
healthfulness of the premium,
all-natural lamb. As the popularity for
our lamb increased, Calkins realized
that his farm needed to build an
additional marketing channel to increase awareness and make our lamb
readily available to all consumers.

Also, lamb is lean and low in
cholesterol compared to other animal

in lamb is mono-unsaturated, the
same type of fatty acids found in
